Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) is a product that was born out of the 2006 Softricity acquisition and has grown dramatically since then. Application Virtualization allows applications to run in separate virtual environments, eliminating conflicts with other applications. This enables multiple versions of the same application to run simultaneously on the system. Applications can be moved around easily and run without the need to install them. In addition, with App-V, you can stream fully functional Windows applications to users’ desktops, on demand. This technology will change how administrators manage desktops and servers, significantly reducing costs. App-V has quickly become a key strategic virtualization solution within Microsoft and has forged a number of exciting partnerships within the company. The team has a great mix of long time Microsoft leaders, experienced industry engineers (program managers, testers and developers), and a number of new talented team members.
