The IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists. The WIE mission is to facilitate the recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines globally. Our local WIE group is an affinity group of the IEEE-Boston section. In addition to the national WIE goals, at each meeting, our group hopes to promote the Boston WIE Affinity Group and increase membership locally.
The purpose of this event is to provide an arena for members to develop professional networking skills and professional development skills, thus aiding in the retention of women in technical disciplines. Professional meetings and seminars are vital to elevating members’ careers and IEEE member grades. For this meeting, we plan to hold a 30 minute networking session, followed by refreshments and a talk from a local women engineer.
Our featured presenter will be Susan Murphy, a Principal Project Manager at Invensys and IEEE Boston executive committee vice president. Susan will discuss what an IEEE membership can provide engineers and the importance of being involved in this professional organization. This talk will be followed by a 30 minute question, answer, and discussion session.
