This meet-up will discuss the DevOps movement, which stresses communication and collaboration between software development and IT operations. Tom McGonagle and Rich Parett will be analyzing DevOps as a methodology for managing an infrastructure as a software development project. Managing one's infrastructure as software provides benefits such as increased automation, scalability, and agility for the IT operations department. It also provides increased operational awareness for the developers. DevOps is not without its challenges and infrastructural software can quickly become a sprawling mass of Puppet or Chef code. Managing these new challenges will require cultural, technical, and interpersonal changes for an organization, a department, and an individual.
